What is the International Media SymposiumThe International Media Symposium is an event intended to bring together Video Content Creators from all over The Salvation Army world. This 3 day event will focus on advancing the mission of The Salvation Army through storytelling.
WHO SHOULD ATTENDThe conference is designed for anyone who is involved in the creation of Video Content for the Salvation Army. This would include videographers, video editors, live stream producers, animators, photographers, audio engineers, graphic designers, script writers, music composers (ie. anyone involved in the process of creating videos).

Robert Jordan Retired American television news journalist, author and former weekend anchor of the WGN News at Nine, which broadcasts on WGN-TV in Chicago, Illinois, and co-anchored the weekend newscast alongside Jackie Bange from 1995 until his retirement in 2016. This workshop is a discussion on how we, as Salvation Army media producers, ensure that our productions are being made to the highest standard of ethicality and legality. Presented by Laura Aukes , Esq.
Mental Health and the Observational Trauma of Filming Disasters
Led by Dr. Karen Hurula, Psy.D, an experienced psychologist and lifelong Salvationist, this workshop focuses on the concerns that many Salvation Army media producers face as frequent witnesses to the trauma of others, exploring the "how" and "why" of caring for our mental health in this context.
Set Design for Video Production and Stage Event
Presented by Joe Caddy. This course will cover the fundamentals of set design and how to use physical elements and layouts to communicate ideas on stage or screen.Key concepts will include the history, foundations, and applications of production design and how to incorporate visual imagery to support and enrich screen or stage stories.
