DAVID Q. ANDREWS
VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR Originally from Wichita, KS, David received his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. David has been working for The Salvation Army since 1992 and has been the Visual Communications Director since the sections inception in 2001. David traveled to Zimbabwe, Malawi, Congo-Brazzaville and India to produce some of the Into the World Series. David is the Co-Creator of CMI-tv and has been on staff at CMI since 1993. David is a soldier at The Salvation Army Norridge Citadel Corps. David is also the author of the INSTANT Song Presenter Program which is now used by Salvation Army Corps around the World. |
DAVID B. MINTER
MULTIMEDIA PRODUCER Dave Minter received a BS in Music Business from Elmhurst College in 1994. Since then David has had a wide range of experiences working with Chicago Jingle writers and Commercial production companies in the areas of music and TV production. David came to The Salvation Army first as a soldier at Norridge Corps, and then subsequently worked for the army in a freelance capacity. David had the opportunity in 2000 to create an accompaniment video for the Chicago Staff Band titled “Shine as the Light” which was presented by the CSB during the International Millennial Congress in Atlanta GA. 2000. David traveled to Zimbabwe and Malawi in 2004 and the Philippines in 2005 to shoot and edit the “Into the World” video series for World Services. David is proud to be a part of the Visual Communications team and for the impact their productions have had on mission field. |
ERIK HANSON
MULTIMEDIA PRODUCER A Chicago native (and avid White Sox fan), Erik received a Masters Degree in Communication (media & documentary) and a Bachelors Degree in Communication (media production) from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Prior to joining the Visual Communications staff in 2001, Erik had the opportunity to work on Threads, a nationally released Children’s animated series. As a NIU sports fan, he could often be seen running a video camera on the sidelines of NIU football games. In 2004, he traveled to Congo-Brazzaville to produce the first of the "Into the World" video series. Erik has worked on projects for Congress, MAP, IMC, and Worship Arts weekend (just to name a few). |
ANDREW GREY
GRAPHIC ARTS DIRECTOR Originally from West Michigan Andy received his Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Design from Grand Valley State University. While in college he was employed by West Michigan Public Broadcasting working at positions as varied as production assistant to camera operator to broadcast designer. Shortly after graduation he served as an Adjunct Professor at GVSU teaching lettering and typography before accepting a position as an assistant instructor for a vocational education program. There he taught graphic design, photography and printing to at-risk teens. Andy joined the Salvation Army in 2001 to handle print projects as well as photography assignments. He has a passion for his position as it allows him to express his artistic flair in a way that serves the greater good. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, as well as participating in endurance cycling and running events. |
EMILY AUKES
ASSISTANT GRAPHIC ARTIST AND MEDIA PRODUCER Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Emily recently graduated from the University of Michigan, where she received her bachelor’s degree in film studies (Screen Arts & Cultures) and is the newest member of the Visual Communications team. She is a dedicated Salvationist who, before coming to Territorial Headquarters, often volunteered her artistic abilities and media savvy to help enhance programming and worship in her home corps in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Aside from her interest in photography and video production, Emily is passionate about world travel. Emily has traveled extensively with Salvation Army Mission Teams including trips to Kenya, South Africa and multiple trips to Malawi. She is a gifted artist with a knack for sharpie doodling, and hopes to someday win an Academy Award and/or own a chinchilla. Emily is also in charge of culinary production and makes certain that the Visual Communications team has access to home made treats on a regular basis. |
SOPHIA JARA
MEDIA PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
Born and bred in Chicagoland, Sophia took the circuitous route to get to her production assistant position. She started her career at Harper College's television station, which she then parlayed into a number of free-lance gigs with MTV Networks, Showtime Productions and independent films. After taking some time off to travel, Sophia started teaching ESL at the Des Plaines, Ill., Corps as a volunteer and has been involved ever since, starting as Assistant Bible Correspondence Director and coming full-circle back into the Visual Communications Department.
