Partner with us on your Project
Visual Communications or VisCom is a wonderful resource that The Salvation Army Central Territory provides to THQ and Divisions for most of your multimedia needs. We know this process can, at times, be new and/or overwhelming so we made this site to help you prepare for and work with us.
VisCom is responsible for multiple types of Visual Arts related productions. Anything from printed graphics like logos, posters, bulletins, conference booklets, brochures and banners. Assistance with computer graphics such as PowerPoint imagery, app graphics and video graphics support. We can create audio recordings like radio ads, voice overs, and custom music productions. Event and portrait photography are also services we provide. And, of course, we do video productions like conference videos, short video series, training videos, and promotional videos. We can also help with live video broadcasting/streaming for training events, conferences, meetings, and concerts.
There are a number of Sample Videos and Graphics at the end of this page to show you examples of the types of things we can help with.

Cost of your Project
Fortunately, you don't have to pay for any of the time we spend working on your project. This can be a considerable savings over hiring an external company, especially for the editing of a video project which can typically cost $50-100 and hour in an editing suite.
The items you will be required to cover are the "Out-Of-Pocket" cost related specifically to your project such as...
Travel Expenses (Mileage or Gas)
Hotel Accommodations
Meals
Equipment Rental (if needed)
Stock Photos/Footage Purchases (if needed)
Special Fonts (if needed)
Sample Prints (if needed)
Digital Capture/Storage Medium (i.e. SD Cards, Thumb Drives, Hard Drives, etc.)

Submitting a Request
Please keep in mind that at any one time, Visual Communications’ multimedia producers can be working on 3 or 4 different productions for various departments and events. We do our very best to accommodate ALL requests. Projects are accepted based on deadlines and availability of staff.
Before submitting a project request it would probably be a good idea to ask yourself a few questions.
- What kind of budget, if any, do you have?
- What is your due date?
- Have all approvals been obtained?
- What are all of the elements you'll need for your project/event (i.e. promotional poster, promotional video, program cover, live video streaming etc.)?
- Do you have samples of work that might help our producers get a feel for you project?
Ideally projects should be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to their due date. Longer if it is a video project involving interviews and location shoots (typically between 6 and 8 weeks).
A general outline or script for a video will be needed prior to beginning work on any video project. This can seem a little daunting to some. Rest assured Viscom will be happy to help write the script with you. Here is a sample Google Doc that you can use to get started...

If your project is an interview type video it might be a good idea to give the questions in advance. Requesting written answers, when appropriate so that we can be prepared to shoot appropriate footage to go along with their answers.
Requests for conference support should be submitted a minimum of two month prior to the conference in order to assure scheduling of personnel. But please bear in mind that this does not include other project elements such as graphic requests.
You can use a single form entry to request multiple elements for your project. For instance, if you need both a Promo Video and a Poster for your upcoming event, you can enter a Project Name like "Men's Retreat 2017" and then select all of the "Project Elements" that you will need for that event. Just type a brief description of each element in the "Project Description" box
Once a project is accepted, you'll receive an email informing you who the producer for your project will be. From there an initial pre production meeting will take place to further discuss a plan of action. You will work directly with the producer and other staff to start and complete your project.
